OVERVIEW

Pitchdrive is a VC with 100+ investors, the company shifted focus towards a more tech company in 2021.


I led the design for the new mobile app where we introduced multiple functionalities: track and benchmark our funds, invest in startups, grow startup/investors relations and much more.

We aimed to develop an mobile investment app that provides all the best investment opportunities in a simple way for our investors.


Before jumping into the solution mode I wanted to connect the customer problems with the business goals.

So I used the Double Diamond Framework to guide us though the design process. Started by:


  • Conducting rigorous discovery activities to refine the idea and ensure its viability, including daily discussions on the product’s core features and user engagement strategies.


  • Think about investors needs and objectives. Based on our research findings, we identified a core set of features and functionalities necessary to include in our first round of user feedback.


  • Conducted user interviews with investors to align expectations.


Through this process, we gained valuable insights that we could incorporate into our design process.

Started filtering through all the information I’d gotten and elaborating on it to define the main problems and the design challenge.

By collaborating with developers early in the design process, I ensured that less problems would come up during the implementation as we were able to discover technical limitations of which we couldn't have known before.

Taking in consideration all the feedback from users and the team, I created low-fidelity wireframes as the foundational blueprint for our investment platform. These wireframes streamlined our focus on functionality and user flow, facilitating rapid iteration and informed design decisions.

Through mock sessions, we identified critical functional and environmental needs. We understood that any time spent figuring out how to use tools or find information made investors unwilling to invest; our goal reduce friction points in the app to make the user decision easier.

Learnings

  • It was essential for investors to access the right content quickly. To facilitate this, we incorporated features that allowed investors to view and skip content easily.



  • Additionally, we maximized the workspace for small screens to display as much information as possible about a startup at the top.

  • We brought some gamification when users invest in a startup to create a feeling of satisfaction and make the user remember that feeling next time and make them more willing to invest.

As the design process progressed and our product vision solidified, I transitioned into high-fidelity designs and more prototyping. During this stage, I utilized my skills to develop a functional prototype showcasing the product's key features and user experience; this allowed us to understand better how the product would function in real-life scenarios and identify any potential areas of improvement.

As we gained more confidence in our final approach, we shifted from design and prototyping to development to create a complete product experience.


After several weeks of testing, we launched an application that exceeded our expectations.


We received a ton of positive feedback from both investors and startups that this would change the game for VC's.

Our platform has helped thousands of investors, invest with us with ease and streamline our investment process to get funding so much faster.


We even got approach by another VC that wants to white label the mobile app.


A significant challenge during this project was designing a UI to cater to all age groups. To overcome this, I focused on developing a clear and concise interface with easy-to-understand interactions and symbols, aiming to create an interface that was easy to intuit and required minimal training for all users.
